About TailWheel Driver

Soldier: I have had the great pleasure to serve this nation as an Officer on Active Duty for almost fifteen years. Wearing the cloth provides me the opportunity to care for America’s Sons and Daughters, a privilege I hold near and dear to my heart.

Clinician: After working as a Registered Nurse (RN) for over a decade, I transitioned into a new career as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). As a nurse, I have worked in emergency and critical care environments in both fixed and field hospitals and forward surgical teams. I have served in several front-line medical units, including a deployment to Afghanistan. My work in psychiatric mental health is now focused on helping Soldiers heal after our Nation’s longest period of war.

Academic: A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), my work to date has focused on workplace violence prevention programs and several areas within psychopharmacology, including; curriculum development in the area of interdisciplinary education, and the use of norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors in the military population.

Pilot: I flew an aircraft alone before I could drive to the airport, both airplanes and a glider. I was blessed to be surrounded by classic aircraft. In the same week, I soloed a J3 Cub and PT17 Stearman. I enjoy teaching others my favorite pastime, but with time being short nowadays, I focus on teaching specific areas I really enjoy, mainly tailwheel/classic aircraft.

My Passion

Teaching. I love teaching. I also enjoy being outdoors and will often be spied camping out of a truck, backpack, or the occasional airplane. If you ask me to fly your sub-100mph aircraft across the country and my bill doesn’t include itemized hotel receipts…you’ll know why.

My Goals

In so far as aviation goes, I would like to not be the only 60-year-old at the airport in a chair seated alone. Very few individuals in my age group fly and even less have flown anything with a round motor. Someone has to fly these airplanes so future generations of children may be inspired.
